Painted my 308 engine block with VHT rocket red today.
Comparing the colour to my original rocker covers the VHT paint is a slightly more reddish shade compared to the original colour. Looks like it needs more of an orange shade.
Had anyone found a closer alternative? Doesn’t need to be perfect but closer.

Hi Jim, there have been a few earlier discussions in the forum about the different shades of red.
If you use the search function and search for rocket red you might have to trawl through some irrelevant posts but you will also find some in-depth answers.

I'd just use Chevy Orange. Not quite right but looks better imho. |

I think you’re right, it’s probably HQ rocket red.
I did end up painting it with a chev orange.
It looks a lot closer to the original. Close enough for me.

Chevy orange is very close to the original HK-HG 186S and 307-327-350 engines. The other engines were a different colour but I reckon they look nicer in Chevy Orange. |
