Hi All,
I currently have the dashboard out of my WB Series II Caprice. while it was out I noticed it has "7 NOVEMBER 1984" printed / stamped on the dashboard chassis. It got me wondering when was the last of the WB Statesmans manufactured? I was always led to believe it was 7/12/1984, but I'm not sure where I got that date from and is it accurate. Either way it appears that my Caprice is probably one of the last ones off the production line. there are a couple of interior trim pieces that had been vinyl painted / dyed from blue to cream to match the interior. it has a dealer fitted sunroof that was installed prior to delivery, and looks like these trim pieces were fitted prior to the sunroof being fitted. I wonder if they had run out of the correct colour on the line, so just dyed what they had??
My Caprice itself is a bit of a survivor car - very original, but with the expected dents and scratches that go with that. Luckily it still has the owners manual from new with it. it was sold new from Kevin Dennis Holden in Maidstone, to Syd Ellis. For those of you in Melbourne you may recall that Syd Ellis had the used car lot a few doors down from Kevin Dennis Holden.

I can tell you that a total Statesman count was done out of the GMH mainframe on 14th December 1984, so the end was not long prior to that. If you tell me what its PSN is I’ll see how it compares to others I have. |

the production number I have is L147600
it looks like most of Holdens production records from back then are hard to get hold of.

L147600 is getting near the end but not the end of WB. The last WB Caprice I have recorded is L149623. The highest WB PSN I have is L150349. Your chassis number should be around EWB598xxA, those really high PSN's are up around EWB6008xA. |
