how hard would it be to fit a V8 290 killowatt, engine with auto trans from a BA into a ZJ fairlane? what needs to be taken into consideration, it currently has the 302 clev in it..
theres one in the local rag for 2500 grand including the trAnny

You would have to start by measuring if it will fit between the shock towers of the ZJ as they are an awfully wide engine.

You would have to make engine mounts and transmission cross member. Probably modify the trans tunnel as even the 4 speeds

Unless you put a strut front end in it (ie: RRS) so you can notch the shock towers the motor will not fit (widthways), length in the engine bay is fine though. as jim mentioned, they're very wide!

I reckon any swap to a later more fuel efficient and more powerful engine is a good idea.

I had a 302w and C4 sitting in the engine bay of my Capri until EB-EL V8's became affordable so now it's getting an EFI 5.0 and BTR 4 speed auto.
