Ive been through this on a site I own, where copyrighted images were used, modified, and posted.
I got good legal advice in the dos & donts, and what people can & cant do to you.
If a forum user ****-cans a company on a forum, it is a very grey area.

the mods are deleting whole threads about said company ( "procomp",
"sydney speed supplies" etc )
some of the contributions are from well VERY WELL respected members from that forum
IMO, the moderators are
