What do the rebuilders use when the hot dip an engine block and what does this remove.

Caustic soda is used to clean the block, its mixed with water and heated to around 80 degrees. It removes all the gunk in the oil and water galleries, even removes the paint off the block. Modern Hot tanks are more like a big dishwashers for engines with
