Hi there, i am looking for some info about engine swaps. im ken to upgrade my standard 202 red motor for more of a later model v6. Nissan, buick, vn commodore?? looking for power and economy. Could go a v8, but looking for something a bit more interesting.
Have already up graded suspention and happy to upgrade breaking power just keen to know what will bolt in and preform the best.

vn v8 easy swap plenty been there and done it and comercial parts are AVilible
altough the 6 litre gen 4 mighty appeal to you more

EFI 5.0L ...nearly the same conversion(interesting) as the V6.

although maybe go the carb fed route with vn style heads and cam
as cheaper and easy to upgrade at a latter date

Personally I would go with the Starfire. If you think the blue 3.3 was a stump puller, try putting it on a drastic weight reduction program by lopping off a couple of cylinders. Then chuck away the Varijet (or was it a Varajet II - sorry cant be bothered

munro73,is right the carby top is lots easier to fit.but not very interesting.(would be for me !)

5.0L efi. easiest converseion. Mine was done about 8 years ago. back when it wasnt common and parts where not as easily avaialble like wire looms etc. now days its a plug in job. easiest by far! best fuel econ too.

No joking about pulling power with the chev. big block, the HQ-WB were built with the big block in mind and will fit. Some here can tell you more about that though... Jack.

But with the big block conversion you need a second motor in the back of the ute to hold the tail down.

when i built my car, back in the VT era, i really wanted to do a gen111 conversion but the crate motor price gave me a heart attack.

Now, with sub 4k 6.0l engines, you would be utterly mad to consider an efi 5.0 for a conversion to a daily driver..
