My HQ Premier sedan (build date 1/72,so I get headrests)has the engine number QL 512576.

I suspect it is a reco motor, from the paint and the HJ rocker cover. Can any of the Gurus here tell me if the engine number is correct for the build date?. I will dropping in a 350, but if the engine is the original, will hang on to it.
The number on the compliance plate, CHQxxxxxB matches the number on the chassis rails, so I assume that the car was Brisbane built, and that the rails are the original.
Trim is 1337-18R and paint is 568 13890- brush painted! purple and roof is 568-13134. Can any one decrypt these please?

The motor is a later engine than your build date, look on the block for a casting date mark, will be like 5E4 or 23F4 for a 74 block which is about what yours will be.
Paint is Royal Purple with Glacier White roof.
Trim is Flax Vinyl.
Chassis is Brisba

You only have to be in front at the end of the race.

follow [http://www.monaroparts.com/Engines.htm|this link] it will take you to a list of engine numbers and what car there from, the engine prefix suggests that the engine could be the original
as jbm said your casting number will be the best way to comfi
