every time i drive my vr ute i get out smelling of exhaust/petrol fumes. i have had the car to 2 exhaust shop and there is no leaks.i have checked the car for holes that might be leting the smell in but have found nothing.the other thing is that out of a tank of fuel i only get 350km around town. i have checked the fuel tank and line but there are no leaks. any help in tracking down the source of the smell would be great. craig r

Sounds like it's running too rich in the fuel mixture. Does the car drive OK? Could be the sensor that leans the mixture back when the car is warm (can't remember the name) is not working so the car is effectiveley 'choked' the whole time. What's the a

I dont know if this is your problem or not but the fumes from the pollution cannister can get into the ventilation system as you drive along. Holdens remedy was to extend vent line down behind the cab. Hope this helps
