Does no suction from PCV Filter Hose in Air Cleaner confirm valve not working. How do you remove without breaking knuckles on firewall. Could this be reason for running like chaff cutter?

I'm no expert here but I do know that a PCV valve not working will make your motor run like crap, because I have had the problem myself, they are easy to check(if you can get it out without breaking your knuckles on the firewall)you just shake it and if i

Gave it a go and condition improved 80%. Spring does not appear to hold the valve closed when assembled. Not sure if this is normal or whether spring has lost tension over the years.
