Im not sure how many older motorsport fans there are here on Fastlane, but it was very sad to hear of the passing of the great Frank Gardner over the weekend.

Some of the younger crew might be heard to say "Frank who", but this guy was one of the best.

Read about him here:- http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78097

Yes very sad news Terry, I remember many of his achievements.

Interesting for those who did not know, Frank was the brother to Derick Gardner - The man responsible for designing the Six wheeled Elf Tyrell F1 from the 70s. This car was driven by great F1 drivers like Jody Scheckter, and the late great Ronnie Peterson who died from massive burns after crashing a Tyrell (Not a six wheeler though)

Its a shame to see him go, and a shame that his achievements go largely unnoticed these days. I may only be a youngster (24) but i grew up reading book by and about people from that era. And to this day its still my most enjoyed material.

I remember one book that i think was by Frank, about race car handling/engineering. Or maybe his name was just on it? Small hard-cover book, black and white, full of great old photos and technical info that was way over my head. Now i wish i knew where it was cause id love to read it.
