Can anybody tell me where the speedo gear is located on the main gearbox shaft in relation to looking inside the speedo hole of the gearbox.
Is the gear centrally located in the hole on the main shaft or does the gear start toward the centre in the hole and come forward.
As the trimatatic speedo gear is located evenly in the centre of the hole but the gear is located more toward the front of the hole in the gearbox just installed in my sons car

Should be in the centre as well. maybe you have the holding clip on the wrong way.

Yep it should be in the centre some idiot has forced the gear right over the clip some how .Just pulled the rear housing off to rectify
