I saw a really cool tool today its a camera for looking in cylinders or anywhere small and dark. Straight away i wanted one .It has ahand held tv screen which has zoom and light controlls for a tinny camera on the end of a flexible cable . pop out a sparkplug an check the bore, great! It must have like a thousand and one uses.I guess some mechanics out there may already be using them .Wish i had one ,all the best--keeo

Any idea on who supplies them, and a price figure?

Cheers,

Just type "inspection camera" into ebay should bring up what you want. Usually retail for about $550 or so these days, could probably get a cheap knockoff from ebay for about $200. Ive been holding off buying one for a week or so now. Thats not going to last long however...

Snap-on one is about $500 at the moment. Theyre bloody handy. Even just for little stuff like being able to see the bolt hole when your arm is twisted up underneath, above and around something trying to get a bolt in.

We have been using them for years doing maintenence on huge engines.
The one we have at work is made by Olypus(cameras)Called a Borescope.
It takes a bit of getting used to, as it has a high degree of magnification, a small pit might look like a huge crater etc. And also because of this, its sometimes hard to realise what your looking at. I found when looking inside engines or whatever, find something you can positivly identify, then picture inside your head where everything else is in relation to what your initially looking at, then slowly move to where you want to look at, valves or whatever.
I havent seen the Snap-on ones, but if theyre Snap-on, they would probably be very good.
