Another Power steer question. What is the difference between a power and non power steer pitman arm on a HK and it it essential to use the correct pitman arm on a power steer set up.
Cheers

In HK/T/G the pitman arm & support is different & unique for cars with the combination of a SBC engine & power steer. All 6-cyl, 253 & 308 (with or without power steer) & SBC engines without power steer all use the standard set-up.

If you have a 307 HK with power steer you must use its unique idler set-up along with the appropriate ram bracket, otherwise the ram will foul the sump &/or exhaust.

Terry,

I think you have your idler and pitman arms mixed up. There is one pitman arm and idler arm as described.

Yes, I did confuse idler & pitman arms, but to answer the question the pitman is unique to all those with power steer, while the idler is unique only to SBC with power steer.

So, if you have an HK 307 & are converting to power steer, you will need to change both items.

Thanks, I did sorta read that between the lines. I have the big support bracket and the (flattened out) Idler. Just need the Pitman Arm now.
