Last week I was wiring up my uncles garage down the coast (Greenwell Point) to be exact, anyway after completing the job, we went over to one of his neighbors for cold ales and chitchat etc, and the topic of mowing lawns came up after all the recent rain.
The neighbor told my uncle not to throw away the lawn clippings, as there is a bloke on 40 acres at the leading edge of town who will pick up the clippings and take it back to his property to make Ethanol from it. He does a daily trip around the area and collects it, even leaves new large garden green bags for your next lot.
It seems all very high tech, as I probed the subject with this fellow neighbor, seems this 40 acre property bloke has dug a massive hole on his property to dump the garden refuge into, and has a large fermenting tank and other stuff installed into a large shed that no one is allowed into. He appearently runs his 2008 Holden Colorado on the stuff he produces, nothing else.
Everyone knows this bloke is making Ethanol and using it in his vehicle, and I think this is just fantastic hearing about it.
Some smart people around, thats for sure.

nothing new, if you are a primary producer you can make ethanol/grappa/alchol, to power your farm vehicles, it even gives you the right to own a still, plenty of fruit growers used to use there own sub standard fruit to make the grappa (alchol) to run there tractors/trucks & alike.. oh and the odd drinkie poo, stuff is bloody potant...

So it should be, any quantity of ethanol is (in drink terms) 100% alcohol or 200 proof. AFAIK the stuff they use in E10 is de-natured ethanol otherwise known as metho. It is about 99% ethanol and has a percent or two methanol added so that drinking it makes you blind (in the cant see sense, not the pissed sense although it will do that too) hence you wont drink it! Making and running this is what the Duke boys used to get in trouble for.
