7120109 I have listed as a 149 high comp head.
I have date codes so far for these from 25 3 64 to 4 10 65.
742008 there should be a 1 on the end of this number.
If so I have this listed against it, normal 179 & early 186 heads and lo-comp 149 engines.
I have date codes so far for these from 5 11 64 to 30 6 65.
If you get the chance I would be interested to see what the date codes are on these two heads of yours.
Cheers Paul.

7420081 has M 24 3

7120109 has D 30 5

not sure what all that means maybe these are yella terra heads? they both have double valve springs and the inlet port posts removed. 7120109 looks to be low comp as its has had the combustion chamber milled out and is much bigger then 7420081. vlaves look igger on both but no YT stamped on either of there valves.

7420081 M 24 3 = 24 12 63
7120109 D 30 5 = 30 4 65
From what I have seen the early Y/T heads did not have the Y/T valves in them,
These seem to have been introduced at a later date.
If you have a look halfway down the page here
http://gallery.oldholden.../Tech/Engines/red+heads/
There are some early Y/T adverts and the valves do not have the Y/T on them.
Also it looks like in the 80s they may have started stamping a number on the left rear of the head
(like 12-80 the date it was Y/T,ed ?)

These heads you have do seem to have been a common choice to have modified by Y/T and others as well.
There is a picture here
http://gallery.oldholden...+heads/6cyl+Casting+ids/
with the centre one at the top being a 7420109 std head and the next one along being a modified version
Is this the same chamber as yours.
Your head sounds like the one at the bottom of the page here
http://gallery.oldholden.../Tech/Engines/red+heads/

I would be very interested in a picture of a 7420081 chamber if that is possible.
Thanks Paul.
