Hi, I have recently purchased a ChevroletSS?rebadged South African HG GTS 350 Monaro. The problem being the only power Steering parts left is the piece that goes on the front of the motor. I need to get the car Engineered and registered in W.A. and need to know if I can get it registered without the power steering or if there is a way to get the required parts without spending a fortune? Any help greatly apreciated.

I cant see why they wouldnt register it without power steering. The bit thats left, is that just a bracket with two bolts in it, or is it the complete pump?
Do you know if ALL the other power steering bits have been removed?
e.g. Is the Idler Support (on the passenger side of the car)bolted direct to the sub frame by two bolts, or is there a big bracket hanging down and the Idler Support bolted to that bracket?

power steering was an option from factory so shouldnt be a problem for rego if its not on there. i have 2 of these cars, 1 with power steer and 1 without. just make sure all the steering is in good condition (tie rods etc)before you try and rego it. power steering units show up on ebay now and then or check out "a classic olden" (94587738) in welshpool. i might of seen one on the shelf there last week not 100% sure but

Hi thanks for the info as to what what AMUNRO327 about the idler arm there is a bracket coming off the body connected to another that then runs up to the idler arm or there abouts and yes the power steering pump is there. I have still not sighted the car though I have hundreds of photos it is down in Perth at Dads place and I have been unale to get any time off work yet to go down and see it.I have photos but unsure how to upload here and cant email them to your address through fastlane I think or maybe it is just me? Thanks to anton as well I will give them a bell tomorrow. The old boy just rang and asked if I knew where the oil pressure switch should be as he cant find one on the 350 chev any ideas?

The oil pressure sender is most likely at the top of the block, beside the distributor, but some Chevs have it just above the Oil Filter.
If you email me pics of the steering at [email protected]
I will be able to tell you what youve got.
