Hi all,
can anyone tell me what the paint marks on the 202 dip sticks were for?

There was dark green on top and white on the stop washer, others had white on the dipstick tube.

Any help appreciated Mike

Green Paint was splashed there to signify on the production line that the oil had been checked and was full. Seen heaps of cars with this .
Here is a pic of my Panel Van with it still as it should be

Thank you very much,
Very quick reply too.
The oil being full was one idea I had thought of, the other thought was there might have been some marking when the engine had been sucessfully test run, but I think the painting was done after the testing anyway.
Which year and plant did your PV come from?
The paint marks seem to vary at times, I have a 1974 one here with a neat dob of green on top and a sloppy white swipe on the tube,
I haven't worked out how to put in photos or I would include one or two.

thanks again Mike.
