My wifes EB is screaming every time an electrical device is switched on, that may be lights or wipers etc.
My mechanic tells me that i need a new fan belt tensioner, unfortunately these cannot be found, well at least my mechanice cannot find a good used one let alone a new one.
What options do i have left? are any new tensioners available for a 4.0 litre 6 cylinder ford?
Kind regards

From memory you are correct. The alternator is the adjuster as this belt also drives the water pump. The a/c and p/steer have adjuster pulleys. Usually the pulleys glaze causing them to squeal, or the alternator belt is loose or soaked in oil courtesy of a good old Ford oil leak! Check all your pulleys for shiny glazing, and belts for tension/oil.

I had an EA that developed the same issue (I'm not too sure if the two engines are similar or not). In my case it was the bearing in the tensioner that was buggered. I punched it out, had the local bearing place match one up and had it all sorted quite cheaply. Hope this helps. :)
