Dave at Holbusters apparently suffered a Heart attack yesterday and sadly was not able to be revived . He was one of the original people selling NOS Holden parts , buying out Parts from all the surplus stores in the 70s 80s and Holden . He had sold me all the parts for my Monaros and my father when we were doing many of them up , and even until recently did we buy parts from him . Everyone could agree he was one of the one few genuine , honest, fair priced people in this game who was up front and sold good quality items and never ripped any off . Always a great bloke to have a chat with also and loved hearing about people restos . I know Les will be able to add more as these guys have all been around as long as each other . Dave once told me he started doing swap meets in 1969 , i bet no one can beat that record ! You will be missed Dave .

We at Rare Spares have also just heard the news and i must say it has come as quite a shock to us all.
We all knew Dave very well having dealt with him for many, many years.
As has already been posted he was a down to earth person with no airs or graces who was always helpful and forthcoming with both parts and information.
He possessed a wry sense of humour and I enjoyed many chats and chuckles with him.
In fact as late as last week I was talking with him about bits for my FJ race car project and as usual his comments were dry and laconic.
He will certainly be missed by the Holden restoration community.

I turned up a Daves factory this morning to find it closed. To hear why it was closed is heart breaking.

The industry has lost a truly unique individual and an absolute gentleman.

I am gutted. Went to see me old mate Dave last week and saw the note on the factory roller door, but it wasn't until just now that I googled to see if anything was in cyberspace about why Holbusters was closed and saw this thread.
I loved his chats, his passion for this country, his passion for all the fools in politics that run it (and those in opposition !) , his passion for cars and also his generosity. He helped me out the most about 18 months ago when my EH premier wagon, which was being used week in week out as a work vehicle, towing trailers full of rubbish etc for me as a self employed handyman/ gardener broke the clutch slave cylinder mount bracket which was from a celica 5 speed conversion from the late 80's. He looked at the bits I had in my hand and mused for a while that he was sure he saw one about ten years earlier up in a box somewhere in the workshop . Whilst we chatted for about 20 minutes as he sorted through boxes and went up ladders to boxes and crates up along the top of the shelves he bloody well found the part, brand new and still in it's plastic bag!! He looked at me in amazement and said " Well I'll be stuffed!" . He knew I needed it, he knew how I couldn't earn any money without it, he had me on the ropes.... He charged me $35!!!
My sincere condolences to all related and associated with this man, I have a lump in my throat and fond memories in my heart...
" Catch ya later, mate"

This is his daughter Laura. I was searching dad's business name on google tonight and came across this thread. It brought a tear to my eye hearing all these beautiful comments and story's about dad. He was such a character and is sadly missed. I thought here might also be a good place to let everyone know the business is still closed and is currently for sale in the hands of a broker if anyone is genuinely interested. http://www.rs.realcommer...u/business-sale/3536299
Again thank you all for the beautiful memory's
Regards
Laura
