Does anyone know much about track days.

I'd like to take my old VT 5.0 on the track sometime to see how she goes. Are there any clubs etc that arrange track days etc

Look up the web sites for your local track. eg: Wakefield Park at Goulburn. The tracks publish calendars which show their track days.
You will have to have a track license, if you haven't got a Cams or AASA license the tracks provide them for the day, at a cost. You will also need a helmet. They do check the cars so your car should be in good nick.

Hi, I live in Ashfield, inner west Sydney.

I see what you say about the circuits having track days but I was also hoping there would be some clubs that arranged some 'like minded' enthusiasts to make a day of it. Might be cheaper too.

Did you only look at Eastern Creek? I haven't been to a day there but Goulburn cost about $110 3 years ago. Some clubs do organise regular days but I think you will find that they cost more because the club has to rent the track for the day, which isn't cheap.

Take a mate and share the driving.

Check out "Drive your street car" on this page:
http://www.mdtc.com.au/packages/index.html

It's done in a similar vein to Wakefield, but the circuit is tighter (slower outright speed) and it's very well controlled. Gary & his staff are very friendly, and openly give advice on how to improve your driving - the more you listen the more they help you.

You can also look at joining a cams-affiliated club that's main focus is motorsport if you're into motokhana type days, but rarely do clubs do actual organised circuit racing due to cost. That's left more for the semi-professional outfits like the Saloon car racing guys, but you're talking more dedicated race cars, not street cars.
Cheers,

Mick

I forgot about that one. I haven't been there but I have heard it is well worth the effort. As Mick said, you get limited training as well. Well worth the money.
