Looking for any information on this publication
This was the first book of its type released since the introduction of the NEW GENERATION HOLDEN in 1968 according to the publication released by GMH
Covers all models excluding the Panel Van and Ute Black ring binder folder just slightly smaller than A4 size paper
Gold capital letters embossed into the bottom of the front cover and also the Statesman Emblem embossed into the cover with out any Gold just black and hard to see
This was the salesman bible and reference book
HOLDEN SELLING MANUAL A summary of the features and changes in the new Holden HQ range HOLDEN BELMONT KINGSWOOD PREMIER MONARO
Any body seen these around at swap meets or online for sale How hard would they be to come by Any help or information that relates to this book would be greatly appreciated Thank you

What it is is a pocket sized book with all the info on the Series for the salesman to make quick reference to. I have the HK and HB. I have seen the HT/HG and HQ but not the Statesman one. It tells you all about the vehicle, compares it to the opposition, lists options and accessories and gives sugestions on how to make the sale (I like the one on the HK Monaro , it suggests that you take the prospect throgh an area with lots of windows so that they can see themselves in the reflection and where there are lots of people so they can see the people looking at them.) They are quite rare as most were thrown in the bin when the next model arrives. Have not seen too many for sale on ebay. Here is a link to a web page, that half way down has an FJ selling manual http://www.cardomain.com.../1955-holden-ute/page-9/Warren

Thanks for the link Warren interesting to see the different types The name Statesman is on the cover but it basically covers all the models listed and not just the Statesman The one I'm referring too is the larger version The desk top version so by the looks of the ones in the link page they were made in both sizes or is it possible that the pocket ones had the basic shorter version of the features and once you had the potential customer sitting down at your sales desk and they would ask more detailed questions about the features of the new models you had the larger version to refer too ?

I have a pair of the small ones one for the HQ statesman and the other for the other HQs. would consider sensible offers but not particularly urgent. little bit large for a pocket though i would think.

If it does i'd love to see some scans. Also, do you have a copy of the last of the sales brochures for GMH C20/C30 Chev trucks, those with 350ci engine? |

It was the standard engine for the 6cyl Statesman model, but after a certain time the 6cyl Statesman (81569) was not made for plant stock only by order. I'm pretty sure there was at least one 308 M21 81669 made too. There were 202 4spd HJ Devilles made too for the Asian market. |

just checked these are a bit smaller than a4, no commercials in them, the statesman one has fewer pages. according to the foreword it is the first Holden Facts Book produced in this form since 1968. the engines listed were 202,253, 308,350.

I have seen a HQ statesman with a 308 4 sp manual, it was purple and it was a QLD govenment car for an indigenous Aussie who worked for the gov. this was back in 1974 and they had another purple statesman 308 auto that was a wreck. they did not like auto's as they play cards in the head lights until the battery goes flat. i remember when they went to sell the 4sp statesman the dealer did not believe them at all and said you lot put the 4sp in and lennie said no no no no no ! he came that way new. Our school head master had a green HQ statesman with a 202 auto, on the tree with a bench seat.

How did you come by your copy johnperth Statesman section would be 1/3 to 1/4 of the book ? I have looked for them on ebay as well as at swap meets and have never seen one for sale
Do they fit into the category of once the newer models came along they would have slowly disappeared into the bins and archives to ultimately go into land fill back them before re cycling became the normal quote]Originally posted by johnperth
