had a weird one a while ago.
guy offered a car to me cheap as it had a canary.
canary was for tyres being out of date. not worn out, not damaged.
never heard that one before.
maybe the officer needed some numbers or had a bad day.

I've heard that this was being considered, but I didn't know it was law yet & I doubt that will ever become so.

The old Aussie made 215/65/14 Madison tyres on my HJ Premier will be in trouble then. I think they were put on some time in the 90's. |

As far as I was aware it was only being done voluntarily by tyre shops.
My local guy won't fit customer supplied tyres that older than a particular date, and it has resulted n quite a few heated arguments at the front counter.
He's also given away several sets of old stock & good 2nd hand ones - all beyond their acceptable date, to some of the guys who do burnouts at WSID - but again, he won't fit them.
I think it comes down to the corporate chains fearing potential legal action if an old tyre was to fail - certain consumers seem to be quick to seek millions in compensation from larger corporates who are perceived to have the cash to pay out massive claims. |
