The date is usually stamped on the small brass rivet head in the top centre of the cap. if you have this then you can find out approximately when it was made. It is not the exact date, more so month/year.

Thanks for that, all clear now.

The ones I can find are stamped AC (as in AC Delco) were the originals like this or stamped GM???
