surely its whatever someone is prepared to pay. i have no interest in fb/ek but someone else may have a different opinion. the same applies with the high dudgeon that some get into over ebay prices, they overlook that the item might be listed at $10 and go to $1000, and then get indignant over it, but that is what it is worth to someone. who are we to tell someone what he should spend his hard earned loot on? i guess it's rare if you want/need it and can't find it. I'd agree if there were actually some bids on it, but it doesn't look like it. I don't think anybody is going to pay anywhere near that. I believe that's just a silly (read greedy) asking price, nothing more. BTW, it's EH, not FB/EK. Dr Terry |

fair enough Terry but i was just using that as an example of something i would not be interested in
i had not even looked at it but nearly choked on my apple just now when i saw the starting price, but consider the seller had to pay listing fee based on his starting price so it is an 'investment' by him in what he thinks it is worth.
pretty clearly he has his idea of value and probably will have to learn the hard way..
but it doesn't alter the fact that if someone wants it badly enough and right now they will go for it.
it can distort values for other sellers who might be misled into thinking that is the going price but i guess we have to rely on other's good sense.

It is like the genuine one owner Premier EH's with less than 100K miles that I constantly cut, chop, stretch, V8, race, etc. If you own it, do what you want. Better to start with a good one.
EH Limo was made from one owner low mileage cars. Chop chop chop. It's just metal from a car they made quarter of a million of. |

Those books are only good to the owner of the car they came from. To everyone else they're worth $20.
Or you could take the view of the original owner of my Brock - he sent me the books free of charge. I offered to pay for them (or even the postage) but he wouldn't hear of it. His comment was that they are useless and of no value to anyone but the owner of the car, and he realised they should have stayed with it. |

That's maybe why the price is set high, as ebay now give forty free listings per month and you only pay if the item sells. Ebay did this to encorage more sellers, but the downside is people can list for over the top prices hoping to snare that buyer with excess money who wants the item. They can run it a few times at the price and if a sale doesn't happen, down goes the price.

i didn't know ebay was giving free listings still. i thought it was just a temporary offer some time ago. i haven't listed on ebay for years because i won't be dictated to on method of payment. (paypal). although i might have to ,to clear some of my junk..oops good stuff.. out. might list at top price as well.
anyone want to buy an owner's manual?

I agree. With the fee for selling, then paypal slugs you 3% on all the money that goes in (postage isn't exempt), I reckon it's double dipping. Cost you about 10% all up after the sale.
