I know Jim said the ACT diff Dr fit spacers onto the Ford carrier unit (centres) which does ratios 2.54:1 - 2.92:1 so they can accommodate the crownwheel gear ratios between 2.92:1 - 4.11:1 in the Borg Warner diff but has anyone experienced any noise & reliability problems in doing this?
I'm asking this because someone on the Ford forums website was making a big song & dance up about the crownwheel bolts not being long enough and the spigot not being big enough to accommodate the 6mm spacer.
I measured up the protruding bolt length without the spacer in place which protruded by 12mm,this means I will have 6mm of thread to play with once the spacer & crownwheel are fitted.
Next was the argument that there would be excessive gear noise due to the ring gear not having any spigot to sit on.
I however measured that there will be at least 4mm of spigot to play with once the spacer is fitted while not very much once the bolts are in place should hold it in the right position.
Has anyone had any reliability problems using a spacer on a high ratio centre when adapting it to be used with lower ratio gears?
Do any nut & bolt places sell longer left hand threaded bolts?

I have sorted out the bolt problem at least for now.
A local company up my way is going to make up some longer bolts for me on their CNC lathe.
That would give the crownwheel more security as like I mentioned there was only like 6MM of bolt length to pl

I put standard sized high tensile socket head cap screws in mine once.
