I was gonna fit the triples, but got rid of them in favour of a single two barrel carby for tuning purposes! I was going to purchase a new 465 four barrel holley for it, but after taking it for a strap with the 350holley, im really satisfied with how it performs now! I had a chat with the engineer (bloke who bored and lightened my motor), and he rekons a lot of people over carburise their motors in favour of horsepower! I COULD run a big holley or a set of triples, but why?? The 350 holley has enough carburation to satisfy my motor, so i dont need to go bigger!

I rekon ill be in the low 15s on the quarter! If i change my diff gearing and upgrade to the supra box, ill see an easy 14second time sheet i rekon!!

Going on the dyno in January (hopefully)!!

My car and i like to drink the same stuff... ALCOHOL! Shame i cant drink as much as him...

knowing what the 350s economy{or lack of}is like,i thought the 465 would be better when town driving on the primaries-but i remembered you dont drive it everyday so why worry eh? Hurry up, show us a time card!

Yeah - economy isnt my primary worry, but it does mean a bit to me! For example:
Went to rockhampton to pick up mates EH, the UC used around 10l/100km on the way down, and about 9.5l/100km on the way back. Mates EH (with exact same motor right down to cam size - 179HP bored to 186, yadda yadda) used 15 - 16l/100km. He runs twin strommies. The 350holley isnt THAT bad on fuel when you compare it to twins or triples, and the performance difference (imho) would be mild!

Taking it down the strip when i get back! Wont have dyno printout until january!

i rekon its exceptional for a 350 (let alone any holden 6cyl..), i think i have the nack for tuning the old holleys!! Well see how it goes down the strip, hoping for 15s, would kiss the bloke who helped build the motor if i could pull a high 14 out of it!! I would settle (however) for anything between 15 and mid 16 seconds! Its quick - but HOW QUICK is it??

Keith

NOTE: Will be running 350holley WITH filter down strip, 165/13 rear tyres for 9 runs, 225/14 rears for 3 runs! Ill scan and post up all my results (listed with tyre used also and run number)!

whats with the 165/13s? trying to do a half track smoke run?!! LMAO.
if youre a good pilot you may be surprised with your E.T. By the way-what colour was your exhaust tip{inside} after you got back from your trip? not running too lean are you?

LOL! Believe it or not, i get better traction with the 165s than with my 225s!! And my best time so far has been on the 165s! Something about them i guess! Plus they are my spares so i dont mind creating a bit of smoke on them, so i normally heat the buggery out of them on the burnout pad before i race!! Ill post a pic of a mild warmup using them...

I normally smoke them up until i cant see anything outside of the car! Because theyre my ****ty tyres and rims, so i dont really care what happens to them! But im over the long burnouts now, especially considering i have new paint and dont want to get burnt rubber all over the paint!!

The 225s are Yokohama A509s and at $175 a pop, id rather burn up a full set of 165s at $40 each...

My exhaust was a dark greyish colour after the 1400km highway trip! She wasnt running lean, just stoich!

Keith

P.S. Half track burnouts are an understatement!

why would you do a full burn out on street tyres ?. the hotter they get the worse they are for traction .

I would beg to differ! Theres 0.2sec in it if i dont do a big burnout... Traction! They still spin - they are only 165s, but they spin less than the 225s, and id rather heat them up before i take them down the strip! I normally run them about 20psi (same for the 225s), but they just grip that bit better when i do a bigger burnout!

I havent taken it down the strip with the new motor yet! I was hoping to be doing that next saturday night, but now im going camping, so thats been put off yet another 3weeks... And more than likely due to christmas, another 3weeks again! Dont worry Zac, ill post it up as soon as i go down the strip! Ive got a fax/scanner thingy, so ill scan it straight away! And ill get a bit of footage of it too!

Ok Zac, here is what youve been waiting to see!! I ran 7 hot-laps of the Townsville Dragway. I received 6 time slips (the 7th went missing)...

My best time was [officially] 14.852 seconds @ 95.94MPH, but i think the timing gear at the track may have been dodgy for that run... My average was in the 15s, my best was 15.503seconds @ 84.74MPH. Hence why i find a 14 second run un-justifiable!

Heres the slips!

And heres a shot of one of my burnouts.....

I snapped my transmission mount after 3 runs and managed to pull an average of 16.3seconds after that as the vibrations were becoming unbearable (not to mention that my tailshaft was bending up and rubbing on the floor of the car). Time for a new mount!
