Not bad time cards mate, room for improvement there i reckon!, pretty consistant 60 foot times.did you try the different wheel combos u mentioned earlier? Hope you were running a tail shaft loop after feeling all that vibe, pretty scary breaking a diff at full noise.

sorry i thought it would have run a lot better times than it did .i have raced a few different cars over the years mostly holdens. recently i took my every day driver oneton ute with a mild 308 down the strip and ran 14.1 with 28 inch tall tyres and it was starving for fuel at the top end of the track ,if i change to a 25 or 26" tall tyre and get a better fuel pump it will do a high 13. i also help out a couple of drag teams when they need me. what cars have you taken down the 1/4 Zac ?.

Bratt,
1st - UC Torana with 3.08:1 diff gearing
2nd - 186cu motor
3rd - 4speed manual with STANDARD clutch
4th - i have a 6 and you have an 8

Obviously you dont realise that your tonner also has less weight than my UC... Im running street tires, and my 16second times were on 165s.

Mines an everyday driver thats been slightly worked - im not running triples, im using pump fuel and a mechanical fuel pump.

Wheres your time slips to prove your times?? Ive posted mine up - and i dont care if im running 15s (if youll note theres a 14.8 in there too) but i think the timing gear may be out for that run..

Id like to see you make an everyday 6cyl that can run 15s...

Plus my carby aint tuned..

i wasnt comparing my ute times to your car times i was letting zac know about one of the cars i drive , your car must be very heavey because my ute is 1545 kgs ,my times were on pump fuel ,street tyres ,standard inlet manifold, and a single spinner diff. i will take my time slip out to my workshop and next time dave(Qute)comes over he can verify them. as far as building a quick 6 been there and done that and i dont have much intrest in them anymore but i might build one for my daughter as a daily driver . My point being that theres no replacement for displacement...

If you read some of my earlier posts, i was hoping for a 15.2 or better(and i think the car has better times in it).
A new Commodore runs 16.2, a new falcon only just scrapes the 15s... Not bad for an old motor my 186...

I dont care what the ute runs, and im not doubting that it does it, but you dont have to bring negativity to my pride and joy!!

im only seventeen I have not yet taken any cars down the 1/4. but give me two years at the most and i will be.
All i think that 15secs down the 1/4 mile is pretty dam good for a 179hp or any red 6!
Y dont you put your car on this site on show and shine( im not being smart)
now lets all be friends

UPDATE 19 JAN 2006:

I have gone back on my word and purchased yet another set of triple SUs. Since the 350 Holley isnt playing by the rules and 3 different performance tuning specialists cant get it to run right, im gonna get the SUs rebuilt and fitted/dyno tuned. Im sick of not being able to drive my car at average rate of acceleration (with the 350 Holley, i can only go really slowly up to speed or flat out without any hesitation, it wont drive at average throttle).

Ive gotta get some different filters for them though, i hate the ramflos, might get a flat panel filter and concuct some kind of cold air intake for it!!
Yet to back up the 14.852 @ 95mph 1/4 mile time yet...

Yeah, i should be going to the Ingham Car Show this year! Might be in the Club section (me and a couple of mates putting our cars in for display)!!

The triples will probably run better than this sh!tty 350 Holley of mine, so im willing to put up with the disadvantages of the triples! They are initially going to be dyno tuned, so as long as i dont touch them too much, they should be alright!!

UPDATE: 2 March 2006

Triple Carbs purchased! SUs - 1.75", getting rebuilt then fitted and dyno tuned at the same time! Id rather not mess with them for the time being!

Also, receipt of Twin Davies Craig 10" thermo fans tomorrow - being fitted tomorrow also! I will let you know how i go and i will take photos too!

Personal reccommendation - Meguiars Polish, and Meguiars Wax. Had some ****head lean on my schmick paint work in his jeans, leading to nice scratches. One coat of Meguiars Polish and the scratches and swirl marks were long gone! Then sealed with a coat of wax!!

My UC also made the March 2006 edition of Street Machine!!

Drags: Current best ET - 15.5 @ 85mph, with a nice little 14.852 @ 95mph, but i couldnt back the 14 up with another, so im sticking with the 15.5 until i go again!

Wheels: Still running the Globe bathursts, but now there is a bit of silver thrown in the mix! No more blue on them, ive painted them silver! It looks nice!

Engine: Triples, Thermo fans, i am also going to get a bigger camshaft (this one is fat, but i want bigger) and some more headwork too! I hear that SC14 Superchargers are alright too.... MMMMM.... Maybe its in the pipework too!

Other: Purchasing 2 new cars in the coming weeks ---> 1 UC Sunbird SL/E stock car. Im gonna throw a 327 Chev in that and turn it into project sleeper!

-----> 1 85 (i think) Mitsubishi Cordia. Turning it into a convertible show car with an imported V6 turbo going in! This is more of my mates project, but im helping the funding!! Its going to be a full on custom, so keep your eyes peeled! But its going to be driven also....

Thats about it from me! Ill take photos of the twin thermos and the triples as they go on! Take it easy guys!

Just a quick update - 14 March 2006

Fitted the thermos and wired them up - no worries!! I have them connected to a toggle switch, so i choose when they come on! This was my idea and i did it because i keep an eye on my temp gauge, and if i know im gonna be pulling up at traffic lights, i can put them on before the temp goes up to save that little bit of thermal effort!

Ive also (finally) painted my rear mags to match the fronts! It took so long for time reasons, but they are done now and look great! I sprayed my calipers while i was at it! And did some spray work in the engine bay too! Just some touch ups really!

Shes going down the 1/4 again soon too! I will keep you posted on times now that im no longer running the belt driven fan! Should be an extra few HP!!

Cheers

Hey Keith;
THe car looks sweet - especially the engine bay (only a couple of cylinders short!) Are you going to trim back the thermo fan bolts? It looks a lot neater without the belt-drive fan. Thinks Ill do the same.

Keep the updates coming. Looks like you have a bit of a cult following. Down the track could we see you install a 350 chev pumping out 500hp?

Cheers;
Geoff

I have trimmed the bolts back and sprayed them black to match the radiator!! Id have to agree about it looking better without the belt driven fan! I touched up my fan pulley with black paint before i re-fitted it too! It looks great!

Down the track, on this UC, i think itll be a 6cyl until the day it no longer lives! I have, however enquired about another UC for sale in Townsville which is going to be project sleeper! Im going to leave the wheels as plain and stock looking as i can, was planning on a 327 chev with about 400hp, but whatever comes up i suppose! Its going to be street registered, have a large amount of custom work done, including some airbrushing!!
