G'day

As you can see the HK was crappy yellow when I got her and most of the pieces in boxes; quite a challenge I tell you, now it’s a custom mix greeny-yellow.

186 in car has a few mods such as exhaust, extractors, 350 Holley, Holden HEI dizzy, head work I’m not real sure of but ports are very smooth and from looking at port design I’ve been told it may have been converted by use of stainless round dividers? Never had head off it but from memory its bores are 40"o.s. guessing the cam is around the 26/65 grind.

Wish list goes on and on but as it goes the money doesn’t. Motor has started blowing lots of blue smoke {continuously when it warms up} got a similar 186 that I’m putting in over the next week or two, matching it up with a 'glide. Who wants a traumatic!? Plan to store present 186 and make her a bit healthier one day when money permits; like a steel crank, starfire rods, slightly larger cam, 465vacsec Holley, maybe 60"pistons blah blah blah.

Changing rooted front seat for a camper bench and trying to keep it as original as I can after that. No intention of putting 307chev back into it, why? Fuel prices, insurance etc etc. Would love to though!

It’s no show car but I own it and ill drive it - as long as I like it that’s all that matters to me.

Haveagooddaymate!

Youve definitly brought the outside up to scratch - and by the sounds of it your gonna get the motor and interior the same! Thats always good to hear of!! Wish i had a fully dedicated "project" car - mine is simply a daily driver being done up whilst registered!!

Keep us informed mate, i love hearing stories of peoples projects!!

Keep chipping away at it - Maintain the passion and the results will come. I love the shape of the old HKT&Gs. I have a HG kingswood I am also doing up SLOWLY! It is getting the injected 5 litre implant but it is mainting the stock look. I bought it for $200 from my father in law and he had it since new. The misses was nearly born in it! Probably Conceived in it!?? Anyway, hopw to see how the progress is going.

Regards;
Ged

Race the Hk?,hmmmm,not sure about that one. Would be interesting though,on an 1\8th mile i wouldnt get out of 1st gear{remember its only got 2}.might have a play down the road on the long lonely straight first.{note-we r not permitted to exceed the speed limit on public roads,so any testing will only be up to 80.whats my speedo calibrated in?}!}. Maybe best to wait and see how she
ll be going by the time next years meet comes around.
