Here's a couple of pics of my HQ GTS/4 and also my HQ SS (future restoration project)

The GTS is originally a 253/4 speed but is currently fitted with a trimatic. This was done well before I got the car and was very well done with all original bits and pieces etc.
I have a 308/TH400/powers steering set up ready to bolt in which I pulled out of a HJ Stateman a few weeks back.

The SS has the original engine (which is currently fitted to my GTS) and will be restored to as original as I can manage. It's a series one SS and was originally Infra Red. I have already sourced every part I need to complete the restoration but at the moment the house landscaping takes priority (not enough dollars for everything).

I've also got a couple of XB coupes and I've posted pics of them in the Ford Projects area of the Fastlane Forums.

I saw your SS a couple of years ago before Daryl owned it, it was at a car yard in Elizabeth advertised as a GTS replica , I stopped to look at it , when I saw the GTS dash and 4 spd with 253 I popped the hood to suss the ID plates sure enough my suspicions were correct an infra red ss with 10c trim , to back it up there was infra red paint poking out from where new paint had come off.I Knew the codes as I have an SS.
The car yard had no idea what they had , it was also the yard that painted it the colour it is as a week before the paint was very down then it showed up with new paint, this was about 3 or so years ago.

Hi Pieter,

Do you remember what sort of money they were asking for the car. As youre probably aware it was stolen and a lot of parts stolen before I got hold of it so it was in a pretty sad state.
The restoration will hopefully start later this year. I have been focussing on completing the landscaping of the house for the last two years.
This year I will give the GTS a tidy up in preparation for the Monaro Nationals in November and then the SS resto will begin.
Im definitely looking forward to getting it on the road.
regards
Darren

Hi Darren,
I believe it was around $1500 to start with but the paint was rough and it had what looked like a bog crack near the roof I think on the right hand side near the rear pillar, the yard took it off the lot and re-sprayed it, it then appeared for $1999.
Its a pity they painted it the wrong colour. Check my SS out under HX prem 5.0 and WB van topic there is a couple of pics.
cheers Pieter

Dont forget to get your Monaro nationals entry in soon Darren, if you want a free cap (only about a dozen out of 100 left!). Get one from http://www.monaronationals.com if you dont have one, mate.
Cheers,

Hi Bryan,

I may not end up entering as the Monaro is about to be put up for sale. I picked up a HT coupe today and have decided to sell the GTS and the SS in order to build the coupe the way I want.
The HT wont be on the road before November unfortunately.
If I cant be happy with a HT Monaro Coupe and a XB Falcon coupe in the shed, then Ill never be happy!!!
Wanna buy another HQ?? :-)

Well the XB is going to be a GT replica. Why? cause I cant afford the real thing. :-)
It will be black with silver paint outs.

Im not too sure of the engine details yet. Probably a new crate motor if someone makes a decent Ford engine. I know there are plenty of new Chev crate engines available but I havent even looked for Fords.
It will be an auto as I love my V8 autos.

Externally it will look stock although I would like to run a big brake package but that will require 15 inch wheels. If I can get a set of original looking 12 slots in 15 inch then Ill go for them. I will be using GT wheel caps and stock looking trim rings.
Interior will be stock GT (black). I would like to run some after market gauges but Id like to fit them in to the original dash so it doesnt stand out too much. That may be hard though as the oil, fuel, temp gauges etc are not round shaped. Ill work that one out later.

As for the HT Coupe. Well I would like to turn it into a HK GTS look alike. I would love a HK but cant afford one. The stumbling block will be the tail light section. Im still working on that one. I have a champion metal worker who could easily fabricate any panels needed so its possible.

Its only a base model so Im not too concerned about cutting it up. Its only metal so it can always be returned to standard if required.
Im planning on painting it Silver Mink. Im going to run stock wheels as they look awesome.
Engine will be a new 350 chev crate engine and trans will be a turbo 350 as I am led to believe they will fit in the trans tunnel without modification.
Diff will probably get swapped for a 9 inch but if I turn up a Salisbury (its currently a banjo) Ill go that option.
Interior will be vinyl as per GTS although colour is undecided. Probably red or black. Im really struggling with that decision.
Once again I will be using after market gauges in the original dash. As the HT has round gauges that will be a relatively simple job. I will get a GTS steering wheel (repro) and the only other visible deviation from stock interior will be the after market shifter. The car has the short console so it will fit in nicely.
Many people have emailed me privately and told me that Im a tool for wanting to make it look like a HK GTS but I figure if Im building it from scratch then Im going to do it my way.
I have a HG Kingswood for spares and I will be using the disc brake front end out of that for the Monaro as it was originally a 186 with drum brakes.

Thats about it.
Darren

No the SS has not been sold.
It seems like the bottom has fallen out of the SS market lately so its probably not even worth selling it.
For a while there the prices seemed to be steadily climbing but over the last few months there have been quite a few on ebay that struggled to sell.
Ive just bought another Monaro and am struggling for space so who knows what I will do with it in the future.

I only recently sold my HQ SS. It needed a 100% restoration but it did come with the original engine.
Keep looking mate - they are out there.
