Sweet ride Rusty looks real nice!!
Im from Perth and I am building a Sandman also, only mines a van.
Have you done any mods to the engine or anything else?
Hopefully I will see the ute cruising around.
Cheers

Hey Ashley ,Thanks for the comments. The engine has Balanced crank ,Acl flat top racing pistons 40 thou ,Yella terra Big ported heads with custom fitted Chevy Rolla rockers.Extractors going into 3inch single straight threw muffler hidden under tray .Its just been run in & revs hard & has a loud roar.
Things i still have to do to it
1) Fix the fuel gauge ( not reading properly Gts dash) Had my fingers crossed on the freeway the other day . : ) 2) Might put a nice twin system on soon ? .That seems to be the craze again . 3) There is a great mod behind the seat .Custom speaker Boxes.CD ,AMP & speakers get fitted tomorrow. Another mod is the tournau cover . Cheers Rusty Barnes

Another big modification was the fuel filler .The lockable lid is inside the tarp same position but reversed .Being a Panelbeater i think it looks cleaner on the right hand side without fuel cap .Also I welded up the spare wheel hole near rear number plate & cut the lip under the tailgate flush .I made a recessed number plate light higher up.This enabled me to raise the rear number plate. I think it cleaned up the rear nice . Any feed back on that little mod would be good ? Also wondering if anyone knows if the GTS Guards were a Sandman option ?

Nice ute, How much work did you have to do on the body to get it like that and how long did it take you ? Im doing up a WB ute and the job seems to be getting bigger as im going along. Was silver the original colour? Got any pics of the rebuilding stages ?

Thanks, I ended up spending about 150 hours on the body , Alot of work . It was 2 steps back 1 step forward for a while . But perserverance & never giving up to the end paid off. The original colour was White then Blue then Red then Yellow. Thats why it took a quite a few hours to panel ( too much material on the metal ) Some pics of the work

Hi ,Thanks for the comments, the only way you can tell if it a genuine sandman is to look in the glove box at the tyre decal sticker ,I think they had 225s size . it was originally 308 t 400 . & yes it is 2 pac ,glazurit . & it was painted in my double garage at home on a 40 degree day ,I panelled & primed & me and the wife rubbed it & my mate Ben painted it . goodluck with yours .

I stripped out all of my carpet & found some big holes in the floor of my WB , Do you think I should (overlap) second hand floor section or ( butt ) weld ?.
