Hi guys,
I am looking at putting a 4 speed auto in my ek ute behind a 3.3 injected black motor.
trouble is the turbo 700 would be great , but i don`t want to cutt the tunnel to fit it in. Does anyone know if there is a 4 speed auto that will fit in the original space?

Was the EK originally a auto or manual? I know that the auto models had a bigger tunnel fitted from factory. If it was manual you will need to modify the tunnel or replace it with a Rod shop tunnel which is a pretty good fit. The original crash box were very small so you are more than likely going to have to modify the tunnel to fit any other box.

mate yeah she is a ute, i probly will need to modify ther tunnel by ther looks of her,
As far as original goes she has been for two years, i am getting sick of points and reving her head off on the freeway.

Only the specials came out with hyro floor pans. like the sedans and wagons. unfortunately utes were all manual tunnels wich were smaller. to put a box like that in you ute you would have 2 options. find a wrecked out hyrdro body and buy the front half of the floor out of it but make sure you get all the chassis rails into the cut. youll need them. then cut yours out and weld in the hydro floor , rails and all. this will then allow you to use a cut down gearbox cross member like lh torana. can send specs if needed to modify one.
second option is what the boys above have said. buy a CRS tunnel. my advice if you do this option would be to buy the full kit which includes a full bolt in chassis rail kit. which incorperated into the car along with you CRS bought tunnel , will set you up to take the box you want and all you box mounting is ready to go. ect ect. i hope this helped.

incidentally the Standard sedans did come out with the RPO for Hydramatic as well, but they are very rare and I had spotted my first earlier this year!

Having said that, I agree wholeheartedly with all above and the CRS kit is the easiest and cheapest Option, it will set you back around $125 bucks and is definately worth the money, it will also allow you to fit the EK Automatic carpets to the ute, (Just use a heat gun to flatten out the trans hump support bracket moulding in the carpet) and bobs your uncle!!
