Thank you to all those that have noted to me that someone has scanned, illigally, and placed the mnaro facts on a website.

This is the third copyright infrigment on this section of the book. One copy, less Ben Stewarts name on cover, on ebay. Someone at oldholden site selling copies on disk and now this one.

I know that some people want copies of this book but remember that the book cost Ben and I a lot of money to write and produce only to have it as a sales flop, as many refused to buy it. (not worth $50, no bloody pictures etc etc etc)

Why should anyone write a book on our favourate Holdens, (or other makes for that matter) if this is how we openly treat them.

Well at least they have only copied the 41 pages of Bens book, which is pretty much restricted until placed witht he 300 pages of the Monaro Story, and all the info condensed is readily avavilable for those that want to get off their bums, infact I would say most Monaro clubs would have far more info then contained in the down load.

Warren

PS I have not signed in but do not feel the need to as everyone knows who I am anyway.

pretty bloody disgraceful - a site such as this where you provide valuable info leaves the link to download it but deletes anything said about their precious moderators. ABSOLUTE ****ERS.

Hi Warren,

I removed the link as soon as I saw it and Rick I hope you dont mind but I have deleted your other topic as Warren is obviously now aware of it.

In future Rick, please feel free to contact me directly [email protected] if you have any compaints rather than engaging in arguments on the site, I find that complaints generally can be quite constructive and motivate change to prevent such complaints again; when actually directed to the right people.

Cheers!

Leith, its good to see you have taken some action, but its sad to know that your moderators are only interested in protecting their own interests and care more about whether someone has their name in blue or black than the intellectual property of a member of your community. I certainly dont intend to contribute any further until the moderators themselves apologise to Warren for their outrageous and illegal behaviour.

Hi Warren

With the popularly of the HKTG Monaro’s at the moment and considering the price your book appears to fetch on Ebay.

Would now be a good time for a reprint and maybe solve some of these issues?

I for one would love one of your books but for the price to acquire one, its not viable.

I have seen the Monaro story and found it very informative, well done.
Maybe you could gauge interest from sites such as this and others to see if it would be worth your while before going to the expense of a reprint.

I would happily pay $50 for it.

Cheers

Leith, Is that really Warren, or is Rick at it again? I agree with HTMNRO, I would buy a copy at a reasonable price, but not what it is going for on ebay.

Cheers,
Pete.

Warren, I would happily fork out a fair price for your book and $50 seems more than reasonable. I would prefer if you could sign in too, so i know one way or the other about the truth of the matter as im sure most people would not know if they are doing wrong by downloading from an internet site. I wouldnt hesitate in putting a link to your post in oldholden where the link to the download appears to alert others on the TRUTH OF THE MATTER for they may wish to also do the right thing. Confirmation would soon stop the doubts and arguments here and at oldholden.

I am a little dubios of the message.

Knowing how "perfect" Warren is with his grammar & spelling, I cant help but spot some glaring errors in that post.

The other concern I have is the IP address comes up as a different State, and different provider, to that which I know Warren uses.

Everything in that post, I have heard/read before, and it is common knowledge amongst those heavily involved in these cars.

Im not saying its definately not Warrens posting, but it does seem a little odd (unless hes on holiday again!).

Cheers,

Mick

The link provided by the annon poster in oldholden may well be the same trouble maker here trying to be creativly destructive. Im sure Warren will set us straight on the copyright issue when he sees the thread. In the meantime, i noticed that the offending link in oldholden has been removed by Rusty.
Personally i think the whole thing was engineered to have a crack at moderators both here and at oldholden; Its a shame that some people have nothing better to do...Perhaps they should take up a more worthwhile hobby, like tinker with an old car perhaps.

No it was me Mick,

I just have big fingers.

no the book will never be $50 dollars again. it was a steel at that price, and it was widely advertised and available for that price.

I only feel for those who have gotten into the Monaro in the last couple of years when the book was NLA. So if you have had your Monaro for more than 5 years then you had the opportunity at $50 and if we ever did reprint it woud be a lot more, to protect those who have paid for it.

And that is why we have not as we would cop an absolute bucketing if we sold it for "market value".

gotta love a good conspiracy theory - full of holes or not.

nut, I doubt you can tell the state the IP block is from unless it was from a single-state ISP. As for Warrens posts, go back you should be able to find a lot of fast typos, Warren posts fast accurate info but has made typos dozens of times.

Gday Warren, If that really is you, Why not reprint it and sell it for "current market value"? If someone paid more than market value for it that is their lookout, you should feel no loyalty to them or the ebay sellers. The problem with ebay is people get into a bidding frenzy and things get out of hand, then greedy people see the final sale price and use that as a start price. The big problem is that the new Monaros brought back an interest in the older ones and you will find there is a big market for it out there. I still have not given up hope of finding a copy in a secondhand book store for a reasonable price. Please log on as it still seems a bit sus if you dont. By the way I still have that LS stuff you wanted.

Youve got a bit of a nerve telling Warren to log on just to satisfy your own suspicion. Any impersonation of Mr Turnbull on this forum would soon be caught out by the man himself - its not like he is not a regular visitor. You all seem to be clutching at straws to justify your poor treatment of Warren and his intellectual property.

The IP address for that post came up as a NSW based one - in fact, it read along the lines of -cpe-nsw-dsl.
Knowing Warren doesnt live in NSW makes for instant suspicion.

I have since emailed someone who knows the ISPs better than I do, and he has told me how this can happen on rare occasions, in times of peak ADSL demand.

Cheers,

Mick

Hi Rick,

Please dont take this as a personal attack and if you dont mind me pushing the Warren issue aside for the moment, the fundamentals of this site are based on providing good quality information and support for like minded enthusiasts about technical motoring questions; and even not so technical motoring questions.

The somewhat unconstructive posts that you have been placing on here after alerting Warren to the copyright incident, really are against the grain of this site and I would appreciate if we could leave the bull**** to the other forums, that tend to embrace it.

Cheers!
Leith

p.s. Warren, have you thought about selling a secured CD version of the book? If you are interested I know some people that could help you put something together. Send me a PM.

whatever Leith - the "unconstructive" posts were in direct response to attacks on myself - eg post http://fastlane.com.au/f...OPIC_ID=9255&FORUM_ID=2

If you dont like people defending themself then post a terms of use, block anon posters and ban my IP.

The people who post here are generally nicely behaved and informative, pity I cant say the same for the admin, who engage in personal attacks when they are criticized.

Rick, im not interested in being involved in arguments...

However please keep in mind that the moderators do not get paid and moderate the site just to help keep this as the great information based site that it is, it is because of them we do not get the crap that alot of other sites get.

I am dedicated to making the information easily available by all and I will not get rid of anon posters or ban people from there opinions...

Warren has been informed of his unfortunate copyright incident, and mate i would honestly appreciate everyone getting back to just talking about cars!

Thats great, Im not interested in an argument either.

However...

I reserve the right to defend myself.

And, the amount you do or do not pay the moderators is not a valid argument in defence of their behaviour. As the site owner it is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that those in your employ dont violate Australian Federal Law and leave infringing links for hours on end on your site while they make posts about others intellectual ability and opinions

Yes Pete I am still interested in that stuff, just let me know how much for postage to Brisbane, send me an email. warren_turnbull at hotamil dot com.

"current market value" is what people are prepared to pay for it, including ebay.

How about, instead of everyone having a sook about it, go and do something positive - get onto the upload site, and click on the "report abuse" link, and put the details in.

If you were truly concerned about it, you would have done so by now, instead of continuing on with crap in this thread.

Is it really that hard?
