Well, its not the fuel pump as I disconnected the feed line at the carby and put it into a coke bottle, cranked the engine and got a nice amount of fuel in it.
Got the engine to start by dripping some fuel directly into the carby so I guess its the carby thats f***ed =(
Might see if I can adapt some metal cable and aluminium ferrules Ive got into a throttle cable as its around the same diametre as normal throttle cable.
My brother did this in an old KE70 Corolla, so if it works I can use the Holley as I cant really afford the $95 odd dollars for the cable kit from RareSpares at the moment as I need the HR to go to and from work.

Yeah, i recognise that torri.
If its the one i am thinking of, the paint on the roof is really crazed
i sold the owner a 650 speadbore holley and some HQ disks for it about a year ago.
Check your needle and seat in the strommie, replace with new one, $14.

you can run 265 / 50 / 14 on 8" rim on the rear of Standard HR guards,
but if its lowered say 1", and you have 2 mates in the back, it will constantly rub.

I asked if he remembered buying the the stuff off you but he cant remember. Itll be the same torri, the paint on the roof, well the whole car is all cracked but hes slowly been fixing it up and theres bit of grey primer on it now.
I dont think he used those HQ disks as hes running nice cross drilled disks all round.

Will the carby, Im not really conversant in them to be confident enough to play with the guts of them. So really I wouldnt know what Im doing.

Only 1"? Might be a problem then cause mines lowered 2.4" at the back.

2.4 lowered rear,?
i think you will be stuck with 7s on the rear.

Needle and seat on stromberg easy.
1) undo fuel line into carb
2) take the female nipple out that the fuel line went into, 9/16 i think.

Needle and seat located there (skinny triangle cylinder piece)
pull it apart, - the only way to learn!

Oh that, haha I thought I had to pull the carby to bits or something. Thats easy enough, I had to undo that bit anyway when I changed carbies over. Hmm, maybe I damaged it when I swapped them?

I fitted custom lowering blocks in the rear that I had a mate at work make for me.

Hey Adam, I pulled the needle and seat apart and there was nothing wrong with it.
I grabbed the original carb that I took off and pulled the needle and seat out of that. The needle from this one was stuck inside the float chamber for some reason so I pulled the top of the carb apart to get it out. I reassembled it and blew air thru it and had it come out of the jet.
So after not getting anywhere with the replacement carby I pulled it off and refitted the carb I just fixed. I cranked the engine but it didnt start, however I was getting fuel thru the jet by moving the throttle rod so obviously the carb is getting fuel. If I pumped the throttle rod a few times to inject some fuel into the intake manifold I could get the engine to start but it would rev so high it was like sitting in neutral with your foot to the floor so I had to switch it off. I checked the idle screw and it was still in the same position as when the engine was working fine.
After cranking the engine and adjusting the fuel air mixture screw to get no results the battery has finally been drained so theres not engine juice to crank the old girl now.
So maybe tomorrow or the weekend Ill check the dizzy and pull out the plugs and check them just incase but at the moment Im too tired to worry about it now.

Got it going again.
I replaced the fuel filter and fitted the needle from the 2nd carby onto the 1st carby and it fired straight away. Just had to adjust the base idle and the air/fuel mixture.

Quick update, I advertised it for sale but havent had any bites. Not suprised as I had it in the Quokka a few months ago aswell and had about 5 people ring only to have them have a little chuckle when I told them the condition of it.

Anyway, today I managed to get the Holley 350 and Dingo manifold fitted using the accelerator rod assembly and then a bracket on the firewall with a steel cable coming off the to the Holley. Ill have some pics up soon, they are on my phone just havent uploaded them yet.

Need a suggestion on paint. I want the ratrod theme so Im redoing the matt black on the main boday again but with a clear coat. I might do a flamming 8 ball on the sides at the back. My question is tho, should I go full rat rod and paint the bumpers red or leave them chrome. Same with the wheels, if I get some stocky 13s and have them widened should I paint them red?

- Chris
