Good morning all,

My HG seems to have developed an irritating problem with the trimatic gearbox. Driving along, everything seems fine, but...

When stationary at lights (eg in drive gear but still and under full brakes) the car jolts occasionally, like one of the gears is trying to engage.

I have to stick it in N to stop the annoying lurching this problem causes. It even stalled this morning.

Anyone know what might be causing this? stuffed gearbox? loose/broken gearbox mount? worn something out?

I think from memory when idling trimatics sit in second gear for a smoother idle. When you take off they snap back to first & off you go. Yours sounds like it's changing between first & second at standstill. I know exactly the feeling as we had a wokshop
