I am just starting on the same conversion at the moment and have been told that the T5 out of a falcon has the shifter mounted further forward and with the CRS bellhousing the shifter lines up where the aussie 4 speed shifter was.
The other bonus of doing it this way is that even with the bellhousing kit it was cheaper than a Holden V8 T5 as the ford T5's are cheap ad plentiful and the shifter is in the right spot

VN,VP same loom with extra security wires to door switch..easily bypassed.ECU's the same, memcal's diffferent but still work. VR VS similar looms with different pin locations for CEL etc. ECU's,memcals different to VN,VP VATs is programmed in the memcal, you need to disable by re-programming it as it cuts the injectors. BCM not in the memcal, its a seperate unit but not needed unless you are using the commy ignition set up etc and run central locking and fancy stuff. www.delcohacking.net can help you out Edited by user Tuesday, 26 April 2011 7:49:51 PM(UTC)

Mate just got caught out - VP looms don't plug into VNs - there are pin out variations, and the 6 pin engine harness plug is a different size, with different crimp terminals in it.
Moral of this - make sure you get your engine loom & sections of body loom from the same model! |

"EF v8 t5" Are you talking EF Falcon, or did you miss the I off the end of EF & mean EFI?
If it's from any VN-VS2 EFI 5L, then yes it will bolt up with it's existing bellhousing, as they are turbo pattern like the TH700, and all EFI blocks are turbo (except VL Walkinshaw)
If it's from a Falcon, it won't fit, as both the bellhousing and input shaft are different. |

But it will fit if using a conversion kit bell housing etc from Dellows or CRS etc. |

Ford V8 T5's are quite rare and therfor sought after. They have a unique length input shaft that is different to the 6 cylinder Ford T5 and a fair bit shorter than a Commodore T5 (are Commodore V6 and V8 T5's the same input shaft length as each other?).
That might make a bell housing for the Ford V8 T5 to Holden V8 engine a bit hard to find due to the box's comparitive rarity. You probably would get a Ford 6 cylinder T5 to Holden V8 bell housing quite easily though. |

Commodore V6 & V8 input shafts are different lengths too, just like the Ford.
Considering the Holden V8 T5 conversion from a VN-VS isn't that hard to find, and will bolt up, there's no point stuffing around with other boxes that will need modifications to fit. |

I have bought a 97 VS SS that I am using as a Donor for my HG Brougham, Have had Vats deleted from the Memcal and plan to use the 4L60E. This thread while old seems to have had a lot of advise/info shared so if anybody could pass some of this my way (particularly regarding wiring.) it would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Dan.

Hi Guys
I'm also keen to start the same conversion, HZ 253 trimatic to VQ injected 304 auto.
I would appreciate all the advise I can get, especially HK1837's list of tips.
Thanks
Paul
