Good on ya Champ!

I too are pissed with the quality and workmanship of products nowadays. When I was trying to strip down my donor motor 3.3L 202 motor, I couldnt even get a propper harmonic balancer removal tool from my local repco outlet. I brought one thinking it was fine. Drove all the way home, and took it out of its packet. Started to use it, and found that the boss was a different thread from the puller itself. Drove back to repco to see what the deal was, and then had to drive back home to collect the item, and take it back to repco to get a refund, as all their other stock of harmonic balance removers were dodgey also "ABW!!!". Ended up driving to the next repco outlet a further 40Ks away, and we broke open 6 packs before we found a match.

It took me 5 F***ing hours just to get one losy removal tool that was actually made properly. As soon as I got back to the motor, it only took me around 30 seconds to remove the balancer so I could get to the cam.

What a drag!!!!.

Good on ya champ, for sorting them out. Im sick of buying dodgey s*** that doesnt even work or is faulty. If more people complained about dodgey workmanship, then they would have to up their game. damn retailers and manufacturers. Ive also had problems with a few other companies too, but im sure if I talked about them all, there would be about 200 pages with of stuff to read through!!!.

Get on to them, and keep at it. It may save someone else from having a bad time, also.

Thanks: 2 times
666,

In my lifetime Australia has gone from being near self sufficient to being the dumping ground for the worlds excess product. Ask yourself why do we import fruit, vegies, milk, clothes, tools etc the list is endless.

So anyway, the reason we have crap tools these days is because thats the way we want it. Governments listen to lobbyists, business wants bigger profits and we want cheaper stuff. Bean counters saw the value of setting up their operations in countries where labour is not organised and subsistance wages are the norm. The irony is that we sell our iron ore to Asia and to balance trade we have to buy finished product back. If we dont do it this way we will have lousy balance of trade figures and some Gordon Gecko in New York will lower our debt rating and the media will get up the pollies, and the pizza goes round and round, etc.

Everyone wins, err well sort of, except maybe the bloke who expects that he should be able to buy something that actually works.

Just a quick update: I jacked the car up on Sunday and got under with my torch to get a real good look at it. It looks like the white plastic at the base of the pin has split in half and the rubber grommet seal is starting to perish / crack too. Like I said, this would be impossible to detect at the factory as it fails in a couple of months from fitment.

Id just like to add that Rares have been very helpful in trying to resolve this issue and seem to be doing everything possible. I appreciate that they do care and want it sorted as much as I do.
