It is lot 270 out of 279 lots and they look to be somewhere around lot 250, so the auction is still in progress. Just Google Bonham & Goodman and go from there.

I was surprised when I read number 1 body as I thought with any production line car there were so many that had to run of the line before they were released to the dealer.
Anyway it will be interesting to read more.

That particular car was the first to come down the pagewood line.

It was not the first built, that goes to the Adelaide plant. (That car also atill exists)

Yes this car could have been sent to dealers etc, for pre viewing.

The car was at the Bathurst dealership during the race in 1969.

The car has an interesting history, I remember when the current owners purchased the car and started restoring it. I had the pleasure of seeing what it was like when they took it home.

People seem to be getting a bit off tangent here , i just wanted to know the price this car sold for and the body number is 1 on the tag . I was not trying to insinuate it was the first one built as i know its not the actual first built , but was using that as a figure of speech so people knew which car i was talking about . I cant believe no one from his forum was at the auction ?

ok, ill be good to you jimmy boy.....

the asking price was set at $180-200k, scared everyone off to start with.
the car did not get a bid at all, and there wasnt a starting price even offered. they put it to the crowd to offer a starting bid, and there was silence.

car was passed in, and they moved to the next lot

when you say you cant believe no one was there from this forum, it has always been a known fact that monaro people can be a miserable bunch, its either wrong part(it really isnt wrong part, they say that cos they trying to get it cheaper)or its to expensive for them. you should be doing falcon stuff, youd be struggling to keep up.

you owe me now jimmy boy, a gelati would be nice....but i dont do dairy bell down the road there....

Thanks Padre , at least now we all know. And yes you are right about the Monaro Fraternity , but some get and some do not , and everyone has their budget i understand also. The cars will change hands over time and the cars on a larger scale will get restored properly eventually. So we will be awaiting that and hope to offer the right items when it comes . And i would not dare take you to such a lousy establishment , we will dine in style at Koko Black for a nice Belgian rendition of how its meant to be done properly . The best ice cream i have had was in France and the worst Pizza i have had was in Napoli in Italy !

James, you werent saying it was the first, but the media and the auction details were.

Geez if I was there I would have started bidding at $10,000 if there was silence. Obviously youd never get it for that, but at least its a start to kick off serious bidders. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if it was an early build HK? probably the same, but food for thought.

The auctioneers had this as the first 350 Monaro ever produced. It was body #1 out of Pagewood so it was without doubt the first Monaro from Pagewood. But what of the other plants? Did they start production sooner? and they also have a body #1. Then take into account the preproduction cars that were tested at Lang Lang, no doubt some of them were 350 cars as they had to be sorted before suppling the public. All in all a lot of grey areas.
People read into something too far and assume this was the first car that Holdens put a 350 into.
