I suppose that you could use this as a rough guide and then check his other prices: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/B...R_W0QQitemZ350201557005

[qoute]Hey!!! absinth as of youre reply to reshells etc etc i actually work for the RTA and weree not in the busines of repossing peoples cars think of the legal drama it would cause we just report to the police if we think ;or no its suspicious in this case reshelled we have not got the power to confiscate[/quote]
Hey h81837k, RTA cant but the Police can. As you said anything suspicious is reported to the Police and re-shelling (now illegal) is considered by the Police as re-birthing (very illegal) and can be impounded/confiscated by the Police. This may or may not happen but it could, after spending $30,000 or more restoring your car are you really willing to risk the possibility of losing it.
I think this law sucks from a restorers point of view but in a way we bought it on ourselves by all the idiot misinformed purists claiming they have been de-frauded after finding out their newly purchased GTS Monaro, GT Falcon etc has been re-shelled.

a new GTS bonnet will be 1500 which is about what you pay for a genuine second hand one. there using NOS parts for there samples. JIM5.0 they had all those bonnets and parts there so yeah i guess thats what you will pay for most stuff. The new GT falcon steering wheels complete with horn were perfect i dont know if you could tell them apart from the real deal. even the new GT dashes looked good. |

Anyone bothered to check the rotary forum out and see how good his stuff is? "Ive used his nos panels and parts, they are all low grade thailand made rubish. had plenty of people i know buy it,and then send it back..... these days, only beginers and fools buy it...." Taken from here - http://www.ausrotary.com...p?f=7&t=35594&start=180

I read they where going to do EH shells. When I had my EH 25 years (or more) ago I remember it had the number stamped into the inner guard on the drivers side. Now what would stop you buying a new shell and puting an original front on it and drilling the two holes for the tag in the fire wall but not put a tag on it as you dont need the tag on an EH for rego as it is NOT a VIN tag? If you where to do that it should be legal. In the early Holdens what determand the car, was it the front rails/inner guards or the body? How did the smash repair shops get around the number problem without restamping them in? Bundybluedog said he seen some HK GTS boot strips there. I know there are reproduction HK GTS strips being made in Sydney and they are so good you can not tell them apart from original ones. I seen them at a swap meet they are great. There was an add for them in Street Machine last year. The guy making them had done all the work for them in Australia and they where made in Australia not in China. I think they where Around the $400 mark aswell. The ones on show there might have been Australian made ones as there would not be a big call for them as they only fit the HK range.

i was just talking to a good friend of mine in the states that does resto/custom work, and i told him what was going on with our cars(which he is familiar with) and he told me that some of the stuff you buy for mustang and camaro aint real flash, even their "premium" stuff is not flash, it needs cutting and slicing, especialy quarters, and most angles are still wrong, and door skins, well you need to majorly rework them to fit, and this i have seen here in melbourne as well
he has a 1968 mustang he is doing, and he doesnt like using their stuff. even the chevy stuff is not as good as what it supposed to be.i know the 55 chev front blinker assy from danchuk and C.A.R.S. are absolute wrong!!
but, i guess its still better than buying a flat piece of steel....

i emailed the u.s mob they ant making the monaro shells, so maybe the chineses???? i wounder if they would have the saginaw hump and hump for the big tank???? i reckon it would be fun to put a hk monaro together thats had no repairs and was stright rust free? so i cant see them being any good, but i,ll stand corrected... i had a nos hk beaver would of been great to get that copied, one of the best parts of the car. i cant understand how car companys can sell replacement shell, yet if we did it if rebirthing, i really cant see the difference???

This topic seems to have gone quiet. Anyone with more info? Especially about the XY panels. Will they make grilles, doors etc?
