Im just about to start a rebuild on an EH Premier. I'm in the process on deciding weather to fit a Holden V6 or 5L injected. I've just started doing my homework & would like to talk to someone in the local area that has a V6 of V8 fitted. Or anyone else local that can help me. I've found a wealth of knowledge on the web especially here on this site. I also need to get me head around the legal requirements for a road worthy. Are there any engineers close to home?
My rebuild is just starting, let the fun begin.

There are people on there doing these conversions including a bloke where you are. The more the merrier.

Oh and we dont sit around on there comparing tag & engine numbers and questioning the locations of decals. We just build grouse cars.

In my personal opinion a V6 conversion is a waste of money considering a 5.0 conversion is close to the same cost and work involved.

Where is home? Mars? What state are you in, speak to the local registration department and ask who their approved engineers are. Without the engineer you will not get anywhere. Apart from that the whole job is easy, just time and money.

extremely well said mr custom, fun with cars is the motto, it used to be like this, but now all these cantankerous wanna be enthusiasts doing an*l restorations, the fun and affordabilty of our hobby is diminishing quicker than an australian worker in a textile factory.
the days when we as enthusiasts, used to do stuff to our cars to individualise them, have taken a back seat to those that as you said want to know the position of a decal, that when the car was new, the poor old buyer paid a pre delivery fee to get all that stuff taken off, and now, these guys pay money to put them back on!! all this makes it a boring, old run of the mill, copy cat, cheque book resto that anyone can do, coz they dont have the balls to cut the car with the excuse that its always worth more original, well as we all saw last weekend, the original untouched things are just as hard to sell..

dude_oz, go for you life, put a small block in it, tub it, paint it wild, and DRIVE it!! dont be like all the purists that leave cars in cotton wool, that is for babies..not cars

I like to think the older and rarer a car is, the more fun it is chopping it up. Oh and the best ones to chop up are the one owner original no rust ones that dont leave you with a modified pile of rust, but a custom neat car.

perfect!!!! mr smol, you are a legend, i have spent hours and hours studying the trading post, looking for one owner, well looked after classics, and then when they are at home, the plasma cutter comes out, the tape gets a workout, and in a few months of THOUGHT, IMAGINATION and passion to modify your vehicle, you have a neat car that is reliable, clean, street-worthy, and most importantly, DIFFERENT AND INDIVIDUAL....can you imagine?? nice 1 owner eh prem, injected 5.0or 550hp SBC with 250 shot of gas, T700r, 9", tubs, subtle body mods, wheels....the list is endless...

Thanks dudes. Im not here to rebuild a factory EH. I say bring it into the 21st century, customise it but keep the integrity of the vehicle. Have it look like an EH but spice it up alot. Decals.....what are decals. Factory bits of memorbilia that go in a box, I say. My place of rest is Newcastle & thanks for all the tips. A call to the RTA is my first step. Second is to empty out the bank account & dont tell the wife.
Mr Smol, Im in Melbourne in couple of months. Would love to take a squiz at the limo. It beats a stretch Hummer any day.
