I've had this original black console for years and have come to the conclusion I'll probably never use it so am thinking of selling it. Just don't know what they're worth as good ones are pretty rare.

It is complete and undamaged bar a few minor scuff marks and dusty from storage. The boot has mildew and a small hole, the lid has kwik grip on it from a black panel being glued to it. The original ashtray is still fitted and the seatbelt socket lugs are all there and undamaged. It will clean up to an excellent condition console.

Also have a set of straight genuine original GTS guards, one in rust free condition and the other has some rust at the bottom rear where they all go but would be an easy repair. Reasonable offers considered, Located Brisbane southside.

71 to early 73 consul, has seat belt locator hole (should had tabs to fit belt ends), 73 onwards had a full length cut out due to retractable seat belt fitment & increased fitment of 8 tracks & cassette players. originally with the black panel fitted to lid, indicates it wouldve been in a belmont, kingswood or premier, Statesman wouldve been woodgrain & GTS/SS/Sandman would be turned finish. the cut out at the front also indicates it comes from a sedan or wagon, this is for the air flow into the rear passingers, I dont know why they did this & didnt fit a rear vent?

Nice guesses guys but the console is as stated an SS or GTS console. Sandman consoles didnt have the cut out at the front or the ashtray in the rear. I removed the console along with the GTS dash and front seats from an Infra Red SS many years ago. The black metal panel glued on it and the dash was not original fitment.

Belmont and Kingswood - Black machined finish

Premier, LS Monaro and Statesman - Woodgrain finish

SS, GTS and Sandman - Bright machined finish

My style console with the seatbelt storage hole is correct for all years of HQ with non-retractable seatbelts. 74 Sandman was fitted with this style.

The console with the long storage compartment is correct for all years of HQ fitted with retractable seatbelts.
