Hi, what colour is the tail shaft in a HG GTS 308 Saginaw to 10 Bolt and what is the paint code or a colour name which is close?

Hi Davequery74, thanks. The link is great but it has the same missing info I am after, it lists every other but 308 Manual cars.

308 manual HT/G uses the dark green shaft.

Hello Steve, Woodsman Green (a Holden exterior colour) would be a good one to use on the tailshaft. I have used this before with excellent results. You should check the diameter of your tail shaft prior to buying the paint as the 2.75" diameter dark green shaft was replaced by the 3" violet shaft around the end of HG Monaro production. The last HG 308 4-speed cars had the violet shaft fitted on the assembly line and this shaft was the item carried as a replacement part from mid-71. Hope this is of use.

Hello hazzard county, The last of the GTS 327s had this tail shaft from the factory. There is an HK Field Modification bulletin outlining this and it calls for all GTS 327s to be retro-fitted with the violet shaft in place of the dark green item. Only the 81837 model was the subject of this change at the time. Just how many cars were fitted with it is a big question even though every owner was sent a letter from Holden detailing the free change-over next time they called into their dealer. Hope this is of use.

so there was a recall on the green is what your saying? i have 3 tail shafts 2 green 1 YELLOW do you have a colour code OR COLOUR NAME CLOSE TO the voilet one THANKS

Hello hazzard county,
Yes, the green items were to be replaced with a violet one in HK81837 only. 307 powered cars were not included.
The colour we use for the violet shaft is a VHT product - Lively Lavender. Just the regular engine paint is fine, you dont need the high-temp.

concours cars mate, things like this can make the difference of a trophy or 5th place
personally id just paint it black, but i dont care about 100% original on my cars and i dont show my cars either, just drive and enjoy them
