I can help with some of the design elements.

Firstly the big plastic gelati cone on the roof should be laid back approximately 15 degrees from the vertical. This is the best compromise between visibility and wind resistance.

Now for the loudspeaker to play the Mr Whippee theme. This should be spaced approximately 18 inches apart from the gelati cone and slightly forward of the transverse centreline of the gelati cone. This gives the best sound distribution. For size you want as large as possible with the biggest wattage. I would go for approximately 2000W for best range. For frequency response you are looking for something with equivalent properties to a wet mattress.

Now for colours. Always a difficult choice. White on pink or pink on white? I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest pink on white. Cheaper cost and lower maintenance but still with good visibility. Some people will suggest green white and red but lets face it the last time those colours looked good together was never. Use the best housepaint you can find without going over $5 a litre. Apply with 12" roller and use a 6" brush for detail areas. A powder blue pinstripe applied with a 9" roller will contrast nicely between colours.

Finally, refrigeration. In standard gelati tradition you want the biggest, loudest, most inefficient system you can find. That puppys gotta bark. You should aim for around 3% thermal efficiency and a max of 15% mechanical efficiency. If you have to run the compressor with little or no oil to reach those levels then go for it, and dont forget to restrict any possible airflow around the condenser. Also, the evaporator fan should be pumping out superheated air straight out the back of the van at around about eye-level of a 6-yr old.

Pretty basic stuff. Now get yourself an apron that looks like it last got washed in 1969, put on a 2-day growth (3-day if you are not Ethnic) and you are ready to rock.

GMH only kept the service/warranty records on microfiche, which listed the production date, PSN, engine number (if the car went toa dealer for its 1000kM service), transmission serial number (rarely), the mechanical options (engine, box, diff ratio, LSD, air, steer, brakes), selling dealer code and sale date.

They didn't keep any records from the start of VB Commodore production (mid 6/78) so that means 2/3 of HZ and also most of UC are missing along with all earlier Commodore and WB.

There could be in existance out there somewhere, production build records for all Holden, Torana, Statesman, Commodore, Bedford etc. No-one knows where they are if they exist. They'll look something like the A9X list in Eric Blair's "Holden Torana Performance Handbook".
