100% positive. 30Y trim with factory isssues, original red band spare, 308 but cannot remember the box. Reasonable condition.

Papaya was first on Holdens in the late HJ, available on Sandman from memory.

So it would be quite normal for cars to be painted up for viewing/brochures etc. Sometimes there are cars painted next years colours, ie VYs in VZ colours etc. I know of a flame VY S pack, there is also an "HSV orange" SV6 sportwagon in a showroom in South Australia, I saw that one last weekend.

Not having the badges is not a major thing, they may have been toying with the GTS only logo like the HZ, but decided agianst it. I cannot 100% comment on that one.

Th car may have also ben for a special display of some sort, this is also not uncommmon.

So although some colours may not have been available, they do sometimes appear.

There are also lots of Warrigal Black Monaros, much more than people think. with more people looking at tags themselves now it is becoming more evidnt about these so called rare cars. Normally these cars are customised over the years, colour change etc, then suddenly someone looks at the tags and we hav another "rare" car.

Without the full list of build configerations, we willl never know how many of ANY combination was made. Even if they did exist though someone would have to go through the records and find all the cars. Imagine going through 100,000 cars to find how many have Papaya paint.

For those that have seen the Torana rcords this is a daunting task, but if the records exist, someone will do it. (That is how we know how many HQ GTS 350s were made)

Thanks Warren I have a copy of the torana files which helped me confirm the original engine number of my lj xu1 but as these files have recently turned up (who found them & where) is it possible that the monaro numbers may turn up as well

Warrigal black was replaced with Tuxedo black part way through HQ, the last Monaro to run at Bathurst in the October race, (a GTS 4 door in 1973 and 1974) was factory Warrigal black.

By if the records exist, I mean the ones with colour and trim info, they exist in the same format as the Torana records and those records have been trolled through to find all the HQ GTS 350s.

These are the records that Holden access to give you your build date etc.

I am led to beleive the records for VN on exist but nothing from VB to VL.

Too often though you see one of five made etc. These statements are not normoally correct, even with all the data we have on, by looking at 100s of car, it would be impossible to make 100% rules. As some colour combinations may have been popular in one area, such as the 19Y trim discussion recently, 3 in north Brisbane and only a couple found in the rest of Australia. So if you are in Brisbane 19Y trim is common but rare everywhere else on the data, or was popular back then but people in other states destroyed theirs as they did not like them on the second hand market.

Orchid metallic was another one that was discussed here a few years ago, people advertising one of 5 GTS coupes in that colour. Then there was the 3 or so XU1 in strike me pink.

The answer will only be known if we get full build records or the marketing reports that are used to select the colours and trims for the next model, these though are made up months before the next range is selected, so are also not complete.
