hi i have just purchased another HG wagon to match my first one which is well underway now, my questions are how do i tell on the id plate if it is a factory prem or kingswood? it has a prem front and the guy reckons its a prem but i want to know for sure before i get excited about it,

my next question is i am planning to use the efi 202 that was going to go in the kingswood in the prem as it is a roller atm can i use the trimatic from that and connect it to the auto column using a cable or something because i believe the selectors are on the opposite side to the kingswood ones, where would i get a cable like this from?

cheers

You cant easily use a LH shift trimatic with a column setup. Best bet is to get the box rebuilt as a RH shift box (get an old HQ-HZ trimatic (any) for the bits) or use a factory HG T-bar shifter.

Premier will read 811 or 812 as the start of the MODEL or VIN. Kingswood will be 803 or 804

thanks for the help Byron, can i get a cable once i change the selector? i really dont want to have to cut or modify the floor to put a t bar in, would something like a b&m be a solution or is this a bad idea?

If you are going down that path dont waste your time with B&M.
Theyre over priced and cheap looking.

Lokar make much neater looking units that actually suit most old cars.

Your still up for cutting a hole in the floor though.

If you change the VK box to RH shift itll work with your column shift setup. The old HG cable kickdown can be removed as the VK box will be an electric kickdown which is activated by a switch on the accelerator pedal linkage. Have a look up under the dash of an auto HQ-WB and youll see the switch, or even a factory trimatic or TH400 Commodore. Youd just have to adapt a switch to put on your HG linkage somewhere
