I know a mechanic whom once owned a holden wagon whom told me this story, he had owned it from new and it was in superb condition, except for one problem it had a spot of rust halfway up the tailgate, when he went to fix it after removing trim he found out that there was a cup strategically lodged in there with a smart arse remark like "bet this causes some problems" and signed by the crew at holden that was on that day (even had the date),over the years the polysyrene cup had filled with water and slowly created the rust and i was wondering has anyone else found any interesting history in there body work?

This same mechanic also starting restoring a ute for his daughter to find that behind every smear of bog was that expanding foam stuff you put in the cracks around your house to stop drafts and nastys.

There was a guy who bought a new Valiant/Mitsubishi Galant in the 70s. From the day he got it, it had a rattle in the back somewhere. After many trips back to the dealer they had worked out that the noise was coming from inside the LH rear 1/4 panel but couldnt work out what was causing it. Out of desperation the dealer had the 1/4 panel removed only to find a nut swinging on a piece of string and a note written on the inside "so you finally found me"

Well not a Holden but a Ford or rather many Fords. I had a friend that installed 2 & 4 post hoists. He got a job putting one in at Ford Broadmeadows. Whilst out there something was broken on the assembly line and was putting a dent in the roof of every Falcon going down the line. It would cost Ford too much money to stop the line and repair the problem with lost production, so whilst they worked on it the had a guy putting bog in at the next station and further down another shaping it up and so on. So heaps of cars got bog in the roof that day.

A gu I knew bought a XW V8 from the Perth police, it had been a pursuit car that had only done a few thousand miles. it had been somersaulted down the road and had extensive damage to the roof, you could see the imprints of the parking meters in the roof. he used an axe and large hammer to more or less straighten it out, used about 15k of plakky, painted it and relicensed it.
he drove it around for years.

I have found poetry writen on the inside of a belmonts roof panel, due to its language & racial content I cant post what it said here. but it was quite humorous. There once was a man for rome...........
