These scams are not just on ebay, but also carsales, carpoint etc.

The bt one I have seen is a GTS 327 on ebay for over $100k while on another site at the same time for $50k. I was asked about it and sent the potential buyer the real link.

I have also seen a CV8Z with 14,000km on ebay, start price 38k, wanting 43k, no bids, now on other site for $30.5k, car was in Victoria, now in Sydney mmmmmmm.

Yes people are sending these people money, you only need to find say 5 bunnies a year for 8k and you can mak a good living. Greed is a wonderful thing.

Just for the record, I do not record who owns what car, so if I had recorded that particular car, I would not know where, when, condition or who owned it. This does frustrate people who ask for more info after a few years, they think I have there car listed against them. But whn Ben started the register we felt it best that no one could use the register to find a Monaro.

The Falcon GT people wanted a register that also recorded condition, so that if a car was in an accident it would be rgistered for future information. Maybe we should have done the same, personally I am glad we did not.

I dont really agree with bidding on it for the sake of it, mostly because any new comers who dont know about the scams may see all the bids and think its a genuine auction, i have always wondered, if you actually do own a monaro and advertise it in this manner and people bid it way up high then that would mean at the end of your auction you have a car sold but a buyer with no money to pay.
i guess even newcomers though need to realise anyone asking for a direct deposit or the such maybe a bit iffy.

I did buy a HQ SS off ebay once, sight unseen, but then travelled to Sydney to pick up THEN pay. Turned out a very low mileage, very original gem, that I got very cheap. Drove it straight from Pick up in Sydney to the NSW Monaro club show at Cooma that year. I was lucky but theres out lot that do this and lose big time.

I bought my HK on ebay, you have to take a real close look at the seller and check & read their feedback, ask them a few questions. Pay cash or bank cheque when you pick the car up.
Story is if you have even the slightest doubt dont bid.

That guy last night had 3 feedback one was a negative so that left him with one, not enough info on the car and talk to me through my email address, yeah right.

mmm.. Almost as good as the S.A. cop who goes through all the old car mags from the 70s and 80s looking for monaros then checks on the police computer to see if they are still registered. He contacts the last registered owner to see if they still have the car in the shed..."Nice one NOT!"

Hello, the 1968 Holden HK Bathurst 327 Monaro Series 1 is in great shape, no accidents, no engine problems, no previous or present damage and has a clear title. The total price is $10,000 with shipping included anywhere in Australia. It was always garaged and never smoked in.
I am selling cheaper because I have some financial problems. I am away on business in United Kingdom until the end of July, so I can only sell it through ebays protection program. The car is in excellent condition.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have,
Thomas

That is the same MO as the other recent one. Widow in England, away on business in the UK. Wonder if its the same mongrel.

People must fall for it, question is did he lose his nerve when it 50 grand or was it pulled by ebay?
