$6100 and reserve not met, then i wonder what the reserve was? $10,000?

first of all you need 2 rear quarter panels, which WOULDNT be cheap along with all the other repair panels youd need

$100,000 and 2 life times and you would have a good car. Really I can think of plenty of better cars to spend even the $6,000 for that dog turd. I know old Monaros are nice but really I think a lot of people get tunnel vision.

grief is all you would get even contemplating that kind of resto with some of the dudes ya gotta deal with..like you say 6mths for reg, and thats just the trim..imagine pistol pete making the 1/4s??????????? and then ya gotta get someone to hit it with color, and make sure they dontstuff up the shade, or blabber about the rebodying afterwards..
i rest my case

prefect candidate for a repo body shell, simply unpick fire wall & away you go. but not worth $10K. maybe $3K to $5K, due to colour & trim combo & whats left that can be used sold off, eg roof.

Pull ya head in ya punce, its a poxy old 6cyl Monaro. You could buy a good condition registered HK,T,G Monaro for less than $2000 in the early 80s, they were just old Holdens back then and worth bugger all. Its just an old farm hack/roo shooter that some guy has found on a farm and is now trying to make a quick buck.... good for him.

Ive seen far better cars than this one chopped down the same way by farmers once they have upgraded to later models, back then farmers rarly traded in their used cars, they were either parked in a barn, parked in a paddock or ended up like this.

I wouldnt be ragging on the guy selling it, its the morons bidding up to $6000 for a piece of sh!t you should be ragging on....

Spot on absynth, people need to remember what these cars were worth in the 80s, I purchased my first Monaro in 1984, registered 6 cylinder 4 speed GTS for $990. My second was a complete V8 4 speed GTS less motor and box for $750, my third a 6 cylinder GTS complete less motor and box $100. All were relatively rust free, sold the V8 for $400 after taking the interior for the origianl GTS and some other bits, gave the 6 cylinder away when I moved to Qld in 1988.

To make the comparison, warranty had to be given with cars over $1500 - 2000 through car yards. (So on todays money I was probably buying these cars for less than $3000 each, a bit like VN to VS S pack Commodores at the moment)

When I restored my HK back to original in the 80s people laughed at me, as no HK would EVER be worth anything. Had I told them my car would be worth more than EH they would have died laughing, in the same way a younge person might say today "my VN S pack is going to be worth a lot of money in the future".

He who forgets history is destine to relive it.

Or worse, used to visit the old Yackandandah tip back in the late 80s to collect parts off the old junkers, on one occasion we turned up to see a HG GTS being dumped, had been taken to with axes & picks, not one panel had been spared, it was a spotless body prior, spoke to the guys who were dumping it & was told it had been for sale for 6 months in the local rag & trading post for $1500, not one bite, so pulled off the GTS bits & running gear & dumped the rest.

Yes we wreck, there is an XT GT full resto done for $85k on aussi muscle car sales http://australianmusclec...scle/126856-xt-gt-falcon

try buy the same GTS 327 for that money. HK GTS might be soft in price, but XT GT much softer. (admittedly you can ask what ever you want for a car, but HK GTS 327 have been selling for more than this)

alchupanibre, you will have the advantage in 20 years time of telling people how you saw lines of VN - VS Commodores at the wreckers, crushed because they could not sell bits of them. Just like I saw lines of HK to HG GTSs, some stacked 4 high, in much better condition than this one.
