hi again all i have as you may know i have an Hg prem wagon i am working on it has a very nice blue split bench i picked up and i am wondering if i can put commodore buckets up front as i have a set in the same color i was going to get re-trimmed to the same pattern so they look the part, is there anything i should look out for when doing the seat swap? does rare spares sell the fabrics from these or where would i get them?

I have a celica box to go in so a bench is sort of out of the question and i cant find a split front bench in the color i want anyway,

has anyone done this swap? is it difficult? can anyone send me photos etc?

thanks for any help you can give

The other problem youll have is factory bench seat cars dont have the inner seat mounts for buckets. If you can find one have a look at a factory bucket seat car and compare to a bench seat one and youll see what I mean. To add these mounts to your wagon the best way is to cut a floor out of a rusty bucket seat car and take it home and measure exactly where the holes for the seats go relative to other reference points, then drill those holes in your wagon floor. Then unpick the inner mounts off the donor floor (drill out spot welds), clean them up and attach them using seat mount bolts. Then attach them to your floor using a mig in the holes you drilled out removing the spot welds. Pretty big stuff around as you can see, but not all that hard.

Which model Commodore seats are we talking about? I am looking at this seat mod myself, thinking about VT to VZ buckets into the HK.

Is there a preferred late model/make seat for this job?
