Or where in Sydney can one get a 3 speed crash manual gearbox rebuilt, with syncromesh in 1st gear?
Asking for a work colleague Thanks in advance.

Holton Spares in Dee Why is a bit of a gearbox specialist. I watched him strip my M21 box bare and rebuild it 100%, with a NOS Holden cluster, in about four seconds flat. Haha.
9981 4776 and ask for Wayne. Hes very no-nonsense, but if youve got an Aussie gearbox he knows his stuff. |

The way I read ozchevys question, is that he wants to fit a synchromesh to the 1st gear of a crash box. IMHO I dont think it would be feasible.
Depending on which car you are talking about, it might be easier to convert to an all-synchro 3-speed box. They are a much better gearbox.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Yes Terry - that was my thought as well. The car in question is a restored HR Ute, and from the photos Ive seen of it, it is a very nice job. Its a column shift 3 speed. I think he pretty much wants to keep it all matching numbers, but have syncro in 1st for easy driving between reverse and first.

i think it would be easier to teach him how to double shuffle the clutch....i drove a crashbox car the other day for the first time in way too long and surprised myself that i could still get it into first while still rolling without the crunch... going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car... www.classicozwreck.com.au |
