I can confirm its not. Its too early to be from a Monaro to start with, plus the last two digits of the Tonnawanda number (I asked the seller) confirm its out of a GMH assembled Pontiac.

i thought not, his ends in q and mine ends in h5 so i was confused, as for value its up to 1500 so original should be a couple hundred more than that i guess, it still comes down to that argument as to whether or not it matters what engine if you dont have p/work to verify its original.

Price would depend upon the plant that it came from and if someone was looking for that engine, what I mean is if you had the original books for your car and knew the number and it came up for sale youd pay a premium for it. A type 2 McKinnon engine is heaps harder to find than a type 1 Tonnawanda. Note that all Pontiac/Impala engines installed by GMH from 1968 through to about 1971 (all 68 models) were Tonnawanda type 1 engines too. H5 is the right "suffix" for the Type 1 327. Type 2 have H.
